DIY Spider Repelling Spray

Tis’ the season of unwanted guests! Right now spiders are coming into our homes to escape the cold weather coming. Yikes! Since we don’t like finding that we are not alone while doing laundry or taking a shower (eek!) I came up with a solution. Peppermint! Spiders don’t seem to like Peppermint, so that is our active ingredient. This a very simple recipe, it only requires three ingredients. I used fresh picked peppermint when I made mine, but I think dried would work too.

DIY Spider Repellent

1 cup water

1 handful fresh Peppermint (or two teabags)

5-10 drops Peppermint essential oil

Pour 1 cup boiling water over the Peppermint, and let steep overnight for fresh picked, and 30 minutes for dried. Then, strain the liquid into a spray bottle and add the essential oil. You are now armed with spider repellent and added bonus it smells good!

To use: Spray thoroughly around doors and windows, anywhere you think a spider may creep in. .

Since this is water based, it will only last for 3-5 days, reapply as needed.
