DIY Herbal Healing Salve

This is a wonderful all-purpose salve, I use this for everything. The Cottonwood bud oil is optional, but if you can find a cottonwood tree near you, harvest the buds in early spring and and infuse oil with it (using the heat method).

Cottonwood buds smell amazing, and the salve smells just like them. The sticky resin in the Cottonwood buds is very healing, and is especially good for Eczema and Psoriasis. If you don’t have all of the oils you need for this, you can buy them here.

DIY Healing Salve

2 Tablespoons Chickweed oil

2 Tablespoons Plantain oil (also see this post on how to identify Plantain)

2 Tablespoons Cottonwood bud infused oil (optional. If you don’t have it, replace with more Plantain and Calendula oil)

2 Tablespoons Calendula oil

2 Tablespoons beeswax

Place all ingredients into a glass jar. Put about three inches of water into a small saucepan, and place the jar into it. Place the saucepan over the stove. Heat on low until the beeswax is melted. Keep an eye on this! Once the beeswax is melted, take off of heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Pour the salve into a small mason jar or tins.
