DIY Herbal Infused Oil

This oil has a variety of uses, including lip balm, salve, and many others (recipes coming soon!) . You can use pretty much use any herb you want, but a good one to start with is Calendula. If you don’t have any growing in your yard, you can buy it HERE.  There are two methods for making this oil, the quick way, and the slow way. I prefer the slow way, but if you are in a bit of a time pinch, then you can use the fast method. I recommend using dried herbs to prevent molding.

Oil ( Sunflower, olive, etc.)

Dried Herbs

Place the herbs into a jar, and pour the oil over them. The amount of oil and herbs you use is up to you, just make sure that the oil is covering the herbs.

Now, choose which method you will use.

The slow method: Screw the lid onto the jar and let steep in a dark place for two to three weeks, shaking when you think about it.

The fast method: Fill a small pot with water, and place the jar of herbs and oil into the water. Keep the heat on low, and keep an eye on it! Refill the water when it gets low. Let the herbs steep for 30 minutes or so.
